Healthy Rice

SUPPORT LOCAL FARMERS IN THEIR TRANSITION TO RICE FARMING WITHOUT USING CHEMICALS
BUY FOR YOURSELF OR DONATE THOSE IN NEED

“Hey farmer, farmer, put away your DDT.
I don't care about spots on my apples, leave me the birds and the bees.”
- Joni Mitchell, 1970.

For the past half century, chemical inputs in agriculture have had a horrifically degenerative impact on life in the soil, biodiversity and human health. By returning to natural farming methods and aligning with nature’s genius, we can witness a miraculous resurgence of life in the fields that sustain our lives with their yields.

The transition

Balinese farmers are ready to make the transition to chemical-free farming, but the key challenges are overcoming the initial cost of organic inputs, the heavier labour and re-introduction of livestock required to get started, and ensuring that food and financial security are not jeopardized in the event that yields dip temporarily during the transition.

So what will incentivize farmers to face these challenges?  Establishing a stable market for naturally farmed rice will catalyze a movement away from farming with chemical inputs.

Bring on the change !

Our goal is to regenerate 6 hectares of land in Subak Uma Lambing by creating a market for 3 tons of naturally farmed rice per month. This will involve the efforts of a critical mass of farmers in the Subak Uma Lambing cooperative to inspire other farmers to join the movement too.

We see the potential of eliminating chemical inputs from farming in Bali one farmer and one rice paddy at a time, making this island recognized for a regenerative movement that could reach from local to global.

We want to give back to Balinese people

Many Balinese people have struggled a great deal as a result of the implosion of the tourism industry due to the pandemic.

Therefore, we have teamed up with a few great organizations that have been working tirelessly to ensure Balinese people in need have access to nutritious food.

With our healthy rice campaign, you can purchase rice from the farmers we are working with for yourself or donate it to your preferable local charity.

You make the payment through our website and we handle the rest.

For every 10kg of rice purchased for your personal use or your business we will donate 1kg or rice to people in need.
