We walk all year. Each season brings something different: green rain-fed forests, golden harvests, quiet villages or great ceremonies. Choose a month to see what it is like on the trail.
The heart of the wet season: warm mornings, rain most afternoons, the island at its greenest and the waterfalls at their fullest. For Galungan, tall penjor bamboo poles arch over every village street on the trail.
Misty forests, quiet villages and very few visitors. Forest paths are muddy and slippery, so good shoes matter, and we start early to walk before the rain.
The rains begin to ease. The evening before Nyepi, villages parade their giant ogoh-ogoh figures; on Nyepi itself the whole island stays silent for 24 hours and no one walks.
The dry season arrives and harvest fills the fields with families cutting and threshing rice by hand. One of the loveliest months to walk.
Clear mornings, flooded fields that mirror the sky, and planting in the paddies. Comfortable for the longest trails.
Cooler and dry, with the volcanoes often clear in the morning. A favourite month for the Astungkara Trail and Heart of Bali.
Dry, cool nights in the mountains and the busiest month in the south of Bali. Our trails stay quiet, which is the point.
The driest month and calm, clear seas for the Northwest Bali Trail. Galungan brings penjor and family ceremonies to the villages we walk through.
Warm, dry and golden, with fewer visitors on the island. Ideal for every trail, and for snorkelling on the Northwest.
Hot days at the end of the dry season and a second harvest in many fields. Start early and enjoy long evenings in the villages.
The first rains. Fields are ploughed and flooded again, the land turns green within days, and the waterfalls come back to life.
Wet season and planting in the paddies. Rain usually comes in the afternoon, so we walk in the morning and the forests are lush and cool.
Rain usually falls in the afternoon, so we walk in the morning. The paddies follow the usual pattern around our farm; each subak plants on its own calendar. Ceremony dates are for 2027.

Follow farm paths and village lanes, cook with your hosts and discover where food comes from. Several trails welcome children from six. Check each route for its minimum age and walking demands, or ask us which would suit your family.

Sleep close to nature on open bamboo platforms and in village homes. Each person has a comfortable mattress, pillow, blanket and mosquito net. Sleeping is communal, with showers and seated toilets at each stop.
Fresh vegetarian meals, cooked by your hosts using traditional recipes and locally sourced ingredients. At some stops, you help harvest and prepare the food you share.
Most days begin with stretching and breakfast before we walk to our next hosts. Afternoons bring activities and time to rest. After dinner, we gather to share stories and reflect on the day.
Our six guides, two trail organisers and driver work with us on salary, all year round. They are trained in interpretation, first aid, regenerative farming and cultural protocol, and they live in the communities you walk through.
Every trail is led and organised by our own team, not by freelancers hired for the day. Hear from a few of them before you come.
We read every review to understand what stays with people after the trail. Here are some of the encounters, meals and moments our pilgrims take home.
I found the Bali of old that I was seeking over 10 days immersed in the changing landscape from one coast to another.
Every day brought something unforgettable: waking to the sound of a waterfall, eating passion fruit right off the trail, collecting food from the land for our dinner.
Give yourself some time away from everything, turn your phone to airplane mode, reconnect with nature and yourself.
